Tsuga canadensis 'Pendula'

Tsuga canadensis 'Pendula'

Tsuga canadensis 'Pendula' is the weeping form of Canadian Hemlock that has a broad, compact form and is popular for a dramatic look in the garden. It is recommended that you stake the tree to the height desired, then let it weep down. If not staked, the plant will be groundcover. Can grow in full sun or partial shade, and prefers well drained soil amended with bark. The flat, dark-green needles have two whitish bands of stomata underneath. Michael A. Dirr considers this weeping form to be "one of the most handsome of all conifers." Hardy to zone 3.
