Strawberry Sundae Hydrangea
Strawberry Sundae Hydrangea
What a show this hydrangea puts on every summer! Soon after the plants leaf out in spring, the flower begin to open. Starting in mid summer the conical blooms start to shade rosy-pink at the bottom to creamy white at the top, giving the effect of a strawberry sundae! In late summer as the air begins to cool, the pink color spreads and darkens into the most incredible shade. We constantly have customers asking what that plant is they see blooming in our gardens. Before this plant was patented, it was known as 'Rensun'. This cultivar is a compact grower, becoming 4-5 ft tall and 3-4 ft wide in 10 years. Grows well in a garden setting as well as a large container on the deck. Hardy to zone 3. Plant in mass or in groups for the best effect. Provides late summer bloom when few other shrubs are in flower.
