Scarlet Fire Dogwood
Scarlet Fire Dogwood
Luscious dark-pink flowers last and last on this new and unique Korean Dogwood. The flowers are actually bracts, and they can stay on the tree for 8 weeks...that's 2 months! This tree ROCKS! The foliage is also cool, being green tinged with purple. Then in fall the whole tree turns red. One can expect flowering to start when the tree reaches 4-5 years old. If you are looking for a nice mid-sized yard tree, this one grows to 10 feet tall in 8-10 years, and a bit wider. In the late summer 1 inch pink-red fruits develop, adding interest and food for birds. Plant in full sun or in a woodland setting that has filtered light.
