Red Twig Dogwood 'Cardinal'

Decorate your winter garden with this fast growing, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub that has brilliant red stems. In summer, the shrub is covered with its lush medium green foliage. Also known as the red osier dogwood, you can expect it to grow to be 6-9 feet tall and even wider in 10 years. This cultivar is successful growing in wet, swampy areas, which makes it useful where other plants cannot survive. The foliage fall color is red-orange, then eventually turning purple before dropping. Tiny, fragrant, white flowers appear in flat-topped clusters in spring, adding interest. Fruit is quite attractive to birds and is generally considered to have as much if not more ornamental interest than the flowers.
