R. 'Maesie'

A very nice R. arboreum hybrid created by May Lauer of Fort Bragg, CA. The cross is R. 'Lady de Rothchild' x R. arboreum ssp. nilagricum 'Noyo Chief'. The foliage is excellent being very dark-green and holding well on the plant. This hybrid can grow up to 8 ft tall over time. The flowers are very big and bi-color standing out in the late winter/ early spring landscape. May Lauer was one of the early Fort Bragg nursery owners who specialized in rhododendrons, with much knowledge. She is a legend in the area. Hardy to zone 7.
