R. goreri

R. goreri

First found in east Tibet in 1947 by Ludlow, Sherriff and Elliot, plant explorers of the day. This highly fragrant species is similar to R. nuttallii, although has foliage this is more oblong and rounded. The older stems have purplish bark that is exfoliating and very attractive. Large Easter Lily-like flowers are white with a glowing yellow throat. This species won an Award of Merit in 1955 when first exhibited. The plant will grow to 6-8 ft tall and 8 - 10 ft wide in 10 years. only hardy to 25 deg F.

Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons

  • These tender varieties are rare because they do not have a wide enough audience due to their lack of hardiness and are overlooked by the big growers.

  • Singing Tree Gardens has made these rare varieties our passion and remain committed to producing them for future generations. Currently we are the only source in the USA for these tender, FRAGRANT plants.
