Highly sculptural, this new and unique form of Austrian black pine has asymmetrical branching where the glossy, dark-green needles are held somewhat tightly against the branches. 'Oregon Green' can grow to be 10 ft tall and 6 ft wide in 10 years. This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the early 1990s at Van Meter and Son Nursery, Boring, Oregon, USA. The cultivars, Pinus nigra 'Oregon Jade' and 'Select Green' are considered by be synonyms of this plant. This variety is useful to impart a Japanese flair to your garden space without blocking a desired view.
