Pieris japonica 'Valley Valentine'
Pieris japonica 'Valley Valentine'
Here is a Japanese Andromeda that is super! In early spring the plant's lily-of-the-valley-like flower clusters open into long racemes of maroon strings, covering the plant. This flower display will last for over a month! Medium green leaves keep the plant well clothed throughout the seasons so it is always handsome. In late summer the plant makes its flower clusters for next year, so becomes covered with 'bead-like' flower buds. These buds will begin to turn red throughout the fall and winter before opening in spring. There is great interest and contrast all winter between the flower developing flower clusters and the foliage. Easy to grow in shade or sun. Hardy to zone 5.
