Picea abies 'Weeping Blue'
Picea abies 'Weeping Blue'
If not staked, this tree will become blue ground cover! We have seen that here in our gardens, and depending on one's needs, you can make this perform to your wishes, as can be seen to the 'staked' version in the photo. This tree is fairly fast-growing, so you can expect, if staked, it to be 6 ft tall after 10 years. This broom was found as a seedling selection at the Iseli Nursery in Oregon in the 1980's, then later named, registered and introduced to the trade. 'Weeping Blue' differs from weeping Norway spruce by its blue-gray color. The tree has enough vigor to be staked up higher than in this photo, and will offer more drama if so done.
