Picea abies 'Lanham's Beehive'

Picea abies 'Lanham's Beehive'

Originating in 1994 in Kentucky, and found by Gary Lanham, this broom makes a very attractive mounding conifer for a small garden. We like the fine texture of the needles on multi-stemmed branches that make it so compact. Also, the buds an stems have a cinnamon color that sets the plant apart from other cultivars. The yearly growth is approximately 1.5 inches, so you can expect this plant to be 15" tall and 28" wide in 10 years, and fills in all the way to the ground. I have seen old specimens of this cultivar 50 years of age, and they are spectacular!
