Picea abies 'Farnsburg' - Farnsburg Norway Spruce
Picea abies 'Farnsburg' - Farnsburg Norway Spruce
Here is another form of the weeping Norway spruce that is described as having shorter needles, and also having an 'elegant' appearance. The needles are a bit lighter shade of green, and after 10 years, the tree will have developed a 3 foot wide skirt on the ground. This cultivar originated as a seedling of 'Inversa' selected in the mid 1970s by R. Haller of Aarburg Switzerland. After staking at the desired height, the tree will weep down, then become wider at a rate of 3-4 inches per year. Prefers full sun, and is hardy to zone 2.
