Oak Leaf Hydrangea 'Amethyst'
Oak Leaf Hydrangea 'Amethyst'
Discovered by Dr. Michael Dirr while on a drive with his mother in Cincinnati, Ohio, this oakleaf hydrangea is unique and very different. The white flowers turn to a striking red as they age on large, 6-inch long, conical inflorescence. The color holds well and does not fade when dried, making them great for flower arranging. This plant will grow to be 5-6 feet tall and wide in full sun, or full shade. Hydrangea quercifolia is native to the eastern US. You will love 'Amethyst' in your own garden. Hardy in zones 5 through 9.
