Noyo Dream Picotee - 'Peter Schick'
Noyo Dream Picotee - 'Peter Schick'
Sister seedling to the popular rhododendron 'Noyo Dream' has very distinctive picotee flowers of white with a bright magenta edging. Red nectar pouches add more interest in the throat of each flower. This plant blooms very early, usually in late January to mid February. It is only hardy to zone 7, so is suited to the coastal areas. The foliage is A++ with dark green leaves that cover the plant so thickly, no stems are visible. Mounding is a perfect description of the habit, and will be 5 feet tall in 10 years. 'Noyo Dream Picotee' will do fine in coastal full sun, or partial shade. Not yet registered, but is also known among some collectors as R. 'Peter Schick', the person who was partially responsible for creating it. We consider this variety to be in the Rare catagory, as we may be the only nursery who has it to propagate, and on top of that, it is hard to root. Not yet registered at this time, but at the top of list for many collectors.
