Nightingale

From Switzerland, this cultivar from the Teller group has the richest color of any in the series.  Best grown in acidic soil, the flowers start out lighter but soon darken to a rich indigo, or dark purple.  There is a nice contrast between the large sterile sepals that surround, and the fertile buds inside.  This plant looks great planted near 'Teller Red' in our garden.
