Molly Coker

Molly Coker

Developed in New Zealand, this Rhododendron Loderi group hybrid is quite dramatic. The plant grows vigorously to 8 ft. tall x 12 ft. wide in 10 years. The fragrant flowers are large with a pink blush on the edge and a cherry red throat. The foliage is relatively large, resembling the leaves of the Loderi group of rhododendrons. The Coker family was quite active in the Rhododendron Society in Christchurch, NZ. I received this cultivar from friends in New Zealand, so I know it is accurate. Hardy to zone 7. Like a pink form of Loderi King George!

Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
·       Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
·       Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
