Tasmanian Creeping Pine

Tasmanian Creeping Pine

Microcachrys tetragona or Creeping Pine, an attractive dwarf conifer from Tasmania, has a low, creeping growth habit.  The branches are "cord" like and will be from 1-3 ft. in length, growing flat on the ground or spilling over the edge of a pot.  Useful as a rock garden plant, Microcachrys tetragona seems to grow very easily for us with no pests or problems.  Not hardy for most as it is native to a very mild climate, but very worthwhile for those that can grow it.  We like to stake this plant up so it cascades down and spills onto the ground.  The small fruit is very attractive resembling tiny raspberries.  We love this plant and recommend it to all those who can grow it.
