Lewisia longipetala 'Little Plum'

Lewisia longipetala 'Little Plum'

Native to the Siskiyou mountains in northern California, this darling little jewel is one of the most treasured of rock garden plants. Forming low, fleshy rosettes of tough evergreen leaves, the plant begins blooming in late spring with the star-like flowers that repeat in autumn. The color is somewhere between pink and lavender, with a touch of salmon in the middle. Excellent for rock walls, gravel screes or alpine troughs. Best in partial shade in climates with very hot summers. Drought tolerant once established. Hardy to zone 3.
