Larix kaempferi 'Peve Tunnis'
Larix kaempferi 'Peve Tunnis'
An adorable new variety of Japanese Larch from Piet Vergeldt who lives in the Netherlands. Piet found the plant hanging in a tree in St. Anthonis that the locals call Saint Tunnis, thus the name. The plant will grow into a flattened disk of layered branching with soft, light blue-green foliage. Each plant will grow to be 10 inches tall and 18 inches wide over 10 years. Our plants are grafted near the ground, so will make a nice low mound. I have heard of growers grafting them up higher in order to have a plant looking like a hovering flying saucer. Deciduous and hardy to -25 deg F. Zone 4.
