Japanese Snowbell

Japanese Snowbell

Styrax japonica, also known as Japanese Snowbell, is a compact, deciduous flowering tree with horizontal branching and a rounded crown. In late spring or early summer the tree goes into full bloom, displaying small pendulous clusters of tiny white flowers that look like little umbrellas hanging from the undersides of every branch. The effect is stunning! The tree can grow to be 15-20 feet tall in 10-15 years, but can be pruned to keep at a desired size. The fall color is not dramatic, but is a nice shade of yellow.
