Helleborus x Apricot Blush
Helleborus x Apricot Blush
'Apricot Blush' was hybridized by Marietta O'Byrne of Eugene, Oregon. Marietta has spent over 15 years pursuing her passion for hellebores. Her nursery, only open by appointment, has been her laboratory for creating these special plants. This selection has canteloupe colored flowers with red speckles and some picotee edging. A very attractive flower for the 'peachy' flower fanatic.
Hellebores are the harbingers of spring, blooming for six weeks or more beginning in late winter. They are often flowering during the Christian season of Lent, from which they get their common name, Lenten Rose. This plant is happy in a moist woodland environment, planted in soil rich in organic material. It is a long lived plant, evergreen in most climates, and is hardy to zone 4. You can expect this plant to expand every year, but is not a garden 'thug' and does not take over. Hellebores come in a multitude of colors, so are often planted in groups of contrasting colors for winter interest.
