Fukai

Fukai

'Fukai', a unique form of Japanese white pine, was found in a batch of seedlings in 1975 by Tage Lundell, Helsingborg, Sweden. The name, in Japanese, means "deep or profound". The plant has strong creamy-gold banding on the new growth in the spring, making it glow, and making quite a statement in the garden. This bright coloration slowly fades to green in the fall and into winter. Growing 6 inches per year will result in a 5 foot tall tree, and a bit wider in 10 years.
