Forsterianum
Forsterianum
Delicious fragrance will waft on the spring breeze from this highly desirable FRAGRANT rhododendron hybrid in late April. The plant is a hybrid between the Burmese rhododendron R. veitchianum and R. edgeworthii. This is a heavy flowering plant as you can see from the photo. It is tender, so you will have to live in zone 9 or 10 to grow it. If you have a heated greenhouse you are ok. The flowers are 3 inches across with a light pastel yellow/pink blush over white. Another feature is the cinnamon peeling bark. The plant is a moderate grower, so will be a good sized shrub in 10 years.
Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
- These tender varieties are rare because they do not have a wide enough audience due to their lack of hardiness and are overlooked by the big growers.
- Singing Tree Gardens has made these rare varieties our passion and remain committed to producing them for future generations. Currently we are the only source in the USA for these tender, FRAGRANT plants.
