Everred
Everred
We first saw this rhododendron at a national Rhododendron conference where it was being presented for the first time. This unique cultivar is the result of the breeding work of Peter and Ken Cox of Glendoick Nursery in Scotland. The evergreen leaves are colored with red-purple on both sides, and are shiny as well. The foliage reminds one of the smokebush. The bell-shaped flowers are a bright red and cover the plant in April into May. We love the contrast of the red flowers with the chocolate colored leaves. This plant will make a stunning centerpiece to any garden, and is hardy to 0 deg F.
