Cornus kousa 'Milky Way'
Cornus kousa 'Milky Way'
An incredible flowering tree! There are so many pure white flowers, I can see why it was named 'Milky Way', just like the stars in the sky. A robust and spreading tree that is smaller in stature than the other Kousa dogwoods, and has 4 seasons of interest. In spring, the profusion of creamy-white flowers covers the tree, creating a striking floral show. In summer the tree produces golf ball sized red strawberry-like fruit that attracts birds. In fall the turns red and orange for its autumn display. In winter the exfoliating bark adds interest to the landscape. Plant this tree as a specimen, or in small groupings for a dramatic effect.
