Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Rezek'
Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Rezek'
Choice, narrow and compact cultivar out of Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis'.
The late hobbyist-plantsman Ed Rezek liked to collect seed off of Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis' because he enjoyed analyzing the offspring, and he would achieve quite a range of shapes and sizes. Since his garden had size limitations he naturally preferred the miniature, and he gave one such to Talon Buchholz about twenty years ago. Talon called it 'Rezek', and started propagating it. We are lucky to get our hands on a few of these to make available to our dwarf and miniature conifer collectors. Slow, and hardy to zone 5.
