Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Golden Fairy' is a broad, pyramidal, miniature conifer. Bright golden foliage is almost thread-like, creating a delicate appearance. Prefers full sun/partial shade in well-drained soil, more green in shade. 1' tall x 1' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5. This cultivar originated as one of many special seedlings selected in 1966 by Joel W. Spingarn of Baldwin, Long Island, New York from seed sourced from follow Long Islander, Henry Weissenberger.
