Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Barabit's Globe'
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Barabit's Globe'
An exciting blue globe shaped Lawson cypress from Hungary. Rarely needing any pruning, this plant will grow slowly into a blue-green globe shape 3-4 ft tall and wide. Give this one perfect drainage as it will not like soggy ground. We always plant Lawson cypress in raised beds, and we never lose any. This plant was raised from seed by E. Barabit at the Sopron Botanic Garden in Hungary. Hardy to zone 5.
Mr. Barabit was a forestry engineer living in Hungary who found and described over 200 cultivars of conifer brooms. Most of his heritage is found outside of Hungary in places like Holland and Belgium, then coming here to the USA. Mr. Barabit gave away his findings to friends who took them to other countries that propagated them. We are so lucky to have some of his gems!
