Cercidiphyllum japonica 'Claim Jumper'
Cercidiphyllum japonica 'Claim Jumper'
A fabulous new form of Katsura tree, one of the most popular trees found in Pacific Northwest gardens. We love the heart shaped leaves that are opposing on the stems, and how the tree makes such a lovely statement in any garden. Now we have the new 'Golden Katsura' to add interest and beauty. The leaves emerge with a pink blush, then mature to a light yellow. Then in the fall, the leaves turn a rich butter yellow while perfuming the garden with its sweet fragrance. The fragrance has been described as 'burnt sugar' or 'cinnamon fragrance', and even 'apple pie fragrance'. The perfume happens as the leaves change color before they drop. The perfume can be detected for 50 ft away! If you have room for an attractive and unique tree, we would highly recommend it. Deciduous. Zones 4-9.
