Cerastium tomentosum 'Snow In Summer'
Cerastium tomentosum 'Snow In Summer'
What a great groundcover! This low growing, evergreen, hardy spreader will cover a large area and be an excellent contrast to darker colors in the landscape. The silver-gray narrow leaves are covered in fin hairs, making it look 'frothy', then in early summer it covers itself with bright white star-shaped flowers. The plant will expand into a wider specimen, but can be easily controlled if you want it confined to just one area. Hardy to zone 3, the plant will be 4-6 inches tall and each plant will carpet an area of 3 ft around. Deer and drought tolerant. Can grow in dry, sandy soils that are well drained, and prefers growing in full sun.
