Blauer Eskimo
Blauer Eskimo
A miniature Korean Fir cultivar that boasts of short, blue-green needles in small 'rosettes' on the branch ends. Fits nicely into rock gardens where there is moist, yet well drained soil. The winder buds are very decorative in winter when they are plump and resinous. Grows about 1 inch per year, putting it into the miniature group. Found by the Wittbold-Müller Nursery of Verden-Eitze, Germany who had long been doing research in developing a fast-growing, well-branched, blue forms of Korean fir for use in the Christmas tree industry. This nursery has registered several selections, another called 'Blue Pfiff'. Rarely offered.
