Acer palmatum 'Sharp's Pygmy'
Acer palmatum 'Sharp's Pygmy'
So very popular for bonsai, this cultivar is a favorite for this purpose. The tree remains small, even with much pruning. The new growth is a bright green, turning to a darker-vibrant green for summer, then to red-orange in fall. Found and registered by the Oregon nurseryman, Jimmy Sharp in the early 1980's. The tree will grow to 3-4 ft tall over time. Hardy to zone 5.
Shown is a very old bonsai specimen. Please don't expect this when you order, but you can make one that will look the same in 100 years!
