Abies concolor 'King's Gap'

Abies concolor 'King's Gap'

It is always exciting to find another small dwarf form of White fir, and this one does not disappoint. The intense silvery-blue foliage is quite striking in the garden, and looks great when planted near contrasting foliage colors like gold or red. The plant will, at first, grow as a flattened globe, but later on will strike a central leader and develop into a more conical plant. Found by Gregg Gulden of Suncrest Gardens in Pennsylvania, and to this day the original plant is on display at the Denver Botanic Garden. Recommended.
