Bred for the colder parts of the country, this rhododendron opens white and pink in bud, but changes to a pale purplish pink with a darker pink throat. The plant has nice qualities of being full and never leggy with good looking foliage. The plant grows to 3 ft tall and a bit wider. Will make it through a -20 deg F freeze. Hybridized by Nearing. Every spring when 'Manitou' blooms I think this rhododendron is better than most write ups. A great landscaping plant.
