Acacia cognat - 'Cousin Itt' Little River Wattle

Acacia cognat - 'Cousin Itt' Little River Wattle

A low-growing, mounding form of the River Wattle, Acacia cognata, with interesting tight green growth, slightly pendulous and resulting in a rich emerald green mound. The slightly resinous leaves come out red-tinged on light yellow green, then turning a nice emerald green. This unusual cultivar will attain a height of 2-3 feet, and a width of more than 6 ft. Since being brought to the US, there has been no reports of blooming, although the species has pale yellow flowers. A fairly tender plant that is only hardy to 20-25 deg F. This is a great plant for informal mounding along a dry stream bed, rock garden, or tumbling down a slope. We saw this plant at the Far West Show in Portland a couple of years ago, and this photo was from that time. It was such an impressive plant, I am very pleased to have some to sell.
